So we had the funeral today, at Aldershot Crematorium. It was a reasonably brief service, involving two songs I know he'd have enjoyed, especially the second, which was Guide me o thou great redeemer. In fact, while singing, I could almost hear him belting it out - of course that was his brother, sitting just behind me! It made me chuckle, which I'm not sure is quite the thing at a funeral!
Uncle Christopher had prepared something to read about Dad, which was lovely
The turnout was fantastic - thank you everyone who came to see him off. Apparently there were over 100 people in the crem. I was sorry I didn't have the camera at the Crematorium, but have since been told that it's not the done thing to take pictures inside - something about all those red noses, I suspect.
However, back at mum's place afterwards, we had a party. Not quite on the scale of the party we held for Grandad back in the 80's, but a pretty fine farewell, none the less. And at last I was able to emulate David Bailey!
